Marko glaubt, seinen Weg gefunden zu haben: In der Schule wird er als Sportler gefeiert, mit seiner Freundin führt er eine stabile Beziehung, in der Werkstatt seines Vaters wartet ein guter Job. Er ist einer, den alle mögen – und als es darum geht, sein kroatisches Heimatdorf vor einer Flut zu schützen, stapelt er Sandsäcke, wie alle anderen auch.
